FA 2024 Portfolio:
Bloody Nose

Welcome to my Intro to Digital Art FA 2024 Final Portfolio!

These four pieces are interconnected and tell the story of my experience with disability, and how I am continually learning to Crip the art I am creating. The central theme of these pieces revolves around blood, as it remains a constant visual intrusion in my life as someone who suffers from chronic bloody noses. I find it interesting that my bloody noses, which merely serve as annoyances to me, receive more sentiments of empathy and acknowledgement than any of the disabilities I live with, due to the "invisible" nature of them. With these pieces I was inspired to explore visually different aspects of this dichotomy and how I experience it. Additionally, I took great inspiration from the work of M. Remi Yergeau, in their essay "Composing Perseveration / Perseveration Composing" which I read for the first time this year in the collection of essays, "Crip Authorship: Disability as Method" which is an open access book that anyone can read online, which I would highly recommend! With these pieces I hope nothing more than to begin to visualize a part of one disabled experience (my own) and to display in a small part the incredibly varied and complex realities of disabled people and crip projects. Enjoy!
